Project Philosophy

Today, Human Rights protection is a core concern for every country in the integrating world and many efforts are contributed to public awareness-raising on Human Rights issues. In civil society individuals should be aware on how to protect or restore their violated rights even when national legislation is imperfect to fulfill their needs.

In 2004-2005 "Youth for Achievements" Educational NGO implemented "Interactive Human Rights" European Law Mooting Competition Project. Successfully achieving the goal and mission of the project, in 2007 the organization was again funded by European Commission Delegation in Armenia.
Now the project is in its third phase of implementation, giving more students the opportunity to try themselves in the competition, demonstrating their skills and abilities.
In the year 2009-2010 IHR is carried out in cooperation with “Legal Guide” NGO.

Overall goal of the Project is to assist to Human Rights promotion in Armenia by providing an appealing and interactive mechanism incorporating awareness raising and self-education in the area of Human Rights.

Interactive methods of disseminating information tend to achieve a higher success rate. YFA took the strategy of promoting Human Rights in Armenia in a comprehensive and attractive manner - through public simulation of European Court of Human Rights.

The Project is directed towards society in general with a strong emphasis on youth - students of Higher Education Institutions. Youth embodies the future of the country, therefore it is crucially important to design initiatives targeting at youth and raising posterity aware of Human Rights. The participatory approach will enable participant students to self-train themselves in the area of Human Rights and gain their appreciation in practical contexts.

We are convinced that the implementation of the Mooting Competition will greatly contribute to enrichment of knowledge and practical skills among participants in the field of European mechanisms of Human Rights Protection. Practical demonstration of Human Rights restoration procedure in a mock courtroom setting will in its turn facilitate the raise of legal consciousness of the public and will serve as a motive for effective protection of their rights and fundamental freedoms.
